\nApparently it’s a Catalan nativity figure and they have it for celebrities and whatnot.<\/p>\n

\nTime to go in search of food. My right achilles tendon has started hurting earlier today. I’m now limping just a little bit as I walk around, so trying to minimize all the walking. Being old and being out of walking shape sucks.<\/p>\n

\nPassed by our favorite 200 year old bar on the way to dinner.<\/p>\n

\nYes, except no. They had no spot except for people with reservations.<\/p>\n

\nSince we got turned away from fancy tapas restaurant, we went right across the square and into the opposite. Really cheap doner kebabs.<\/p>\n

\nAnd you know what, we will have amazing food here for 1\/10 of the price.<\/p>\n

\nOhhhhh yes!! I’ve missed you so much European doner kebabs. They just don’t cook them like this in the US. Soooooo good.<\/p>\n

\nBack to our favorite bar on this trip. This bar is so fucking awesome.<\/p>\n

\nAbsinthe, of course.<\/p>\n

\nOur happy spot. Pretty cool that both of us love this place. Would suck if one of us loved it and the other hated it.<\/p>\n

\nLike much of Europe, a lot of people smoke. We also saw a lot of people rolling their own cigarettes.<\/p>\n

\nOur bartender, drinking on the job, no big deal. RL talked the bartenders for awhile and this particular guy has been working here for 15 years.<\/p>\n

\nI wonder how long these bottles have been here. 30 years? Longer?<\/p>\n

\nRight above the toilet in the men’s room.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nAs we left for the night, we were chatting with the bartenders. Forgot how, but somehow we came across the conversation regarding the digestif that we see around here in Spain. Apparently this is one of those, and he even poured us a shot on the house just for us to try. This is such a cool bar. The bartenders here have all been incredibly nice.<\/p>\n

\nPrior to coming to Spain, we were chatting with our neighbors and one couple mentioned that they missed being in Spain because they smoked everywhere. And ever since that moment, I’ve been thinking about cigarettes in Spain.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nFound out that in Barcelona, they don’t sell cigarettes in convenience stores. But instead, they are sold at either vending machines in restaurants or in these tobacco shops that we’ve seen around. Well, the tobacco shops are closed for the night, so we went around asking if there was a restaurant that had a vending machine. We found one not too far from our hotel.<\/p>\n

\nDon’t worry, I had half of one. It tasted terrible, but felt just right at the moment.<\/p>\n
