\nGood morning Barcelona. This is our last full day here in Spain, let’s make the most of it. Today started a little bit earlier than yesterday, had to be somewhere before noon. With sleeping in, it was just enough that we didn’t have time to enjoy a leisurely coffee at our hotel room.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nA different part of town today, it’s farther out than we’ve traveled so far. This is getting closer to the edge of the city.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nA lot of newer(relatively) buildings in this area.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nWhere we are staying in central Barcelona, it’s pretty flat. But from here you can see we’ve gained some elevation from our subway ride up here.<\/p>\n

\nCoffee and breakfast. It’s so sunny today, but it’s been sunny almost everyday.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nNutella croissant, yes please.<\/p>\n

\nAfter coffee, it’s time to hike up a hill some more. My left achilles tendon is still hurting and bothering me, I’m walking slow to try to keep it in check. Or as RL would say, I’m holding her back.<\/p>\n

\nThis is the first Porsche I’ve seen this entire time in Spain. I guess no one drives their sports cars inside the city center?<\/p>\n

\nOur destination right up ahead, Gaudi’s Park Guell.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nAll tickets are sold out for today, we saw people getting turned away. I wonder if they had limited entry numbers prior to covid? Almost everything Gaudi here in Barcelona has to be booked days in advance if you want to have a chance of visiting.<\/p>\n

\nEnter through a side entrance.<\/p>\n

\nAnd we are in. Guell park is…well, a park.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nVery sunny today, and a little bit warm. I think maybe mid 70s? Look at that blue sky. I’ve only seen skies that blue in a few places in my life, Berlin, Istanbul, Tibet, and now Barcelona.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nPigeons also love Gaudi architecture.<\/p>\n

\nSo fashionable with my jacket tied around my waist.<\/p>\n

\nI believe these are date palms, so cool. Only since coming to Spain did we see all the Middle Eastern influences in Spanish culture.<\/p>\n

\nGaudi House Museum. We didn’t buy tickets ahead of time for this, so…no entry for us.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nGreat view of Barcelona up here in Park Guell.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nUp we go, but slowly so I can take care not to inflame my right achilles tendon more.<\/p>\n

\nCan you imagine someone buying tickets to come into the park in order to play basketball? I think the slogan for this park is that it’s a park for everybody. Well, it isn’t. You can’t come in unless you buy a ticket days ahead of time.<\/p>\n

\nToo bad they won’t let us on top of that platform anymore. Would have offered an unblocked view of Barcelona.<\/p>\n

\nThe ever present construction cranes of Sagrada Familia in the distance.<\/p>\n

\nGaudi buildings must have been so expensive to build. Everything is unique, everything has curves.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nThat’s that for Park Guell, it’s a little warm, so time for some ice cream after leaving the park.<\/p>\n

\nI actually didn’t even finish all of my ice cream. It had too much huge chocolate chunks…I know…I was surprised that I didn’t eat it all too.<\/p>\n

\nThey carry Royal Canin here, the brand my old dog used to eat.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nSeriously, look at that sky. We are now back in El Raval, the neighborhood our hotel is situated in.<\/p>\n

\nLol. I am guessing it’s not a real graffiti from the Barcelona city council, but still funny.<\/p>\n

\nBack to the 3 Hermanos for some late lunch tapas. The city cleaning crew(neon shirts) are eating here too, this place is legit.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nThe little fried fish are the best. I so wish there’s a local restaurant in Austin that offers these.<\/p>\n

\nOctopus Galician style.<\/p>\n

\nEstrella is quite a good beer.<\/p>\n

\nYes, paella!! The razor clams were a little gritty, but otherwise amazingly delicious.<\/p>\n

\nSuch a gnarly, but delicious thing to eat.<\/p>\n

\nLook at the pure blue sky, so beautiful.<\/p>\n

\nThe same person who had recommended eating at 3 Hermanos said that this placed used to make the best chicken in the world. Too bad it’s now closed.<\/p>\n

\nThe mural in our hotel lobby\/dining room. Time for a quick rest and blogging before heading out again in an hour or so.<\/p>\n

\nA very short 3 min walk or so from our hotel is Guell Palace, right up ahead beyond the tunnel.<\/p>\n

\nI could never have this brick ceiling inside my house laid flat like this. I would constantly be in fear of it falling down on me.<\/p>\n

\nThis was awesome, end grain wood that looks like brick pavers.<\/p>\n
