\nAfter a couple hours of rest, we went to the rooftop deck where the bar opens at 4pm. Here’s the resident pet tortoise that roams around here. Watch out, he is a snapping turtle and will try to eat your toes sometimes.<\/p>\n

\nCool and exotic feel.<\/p>\n

\nThe city is relatively clean…except for this empty lot next to our guest house that everyone throws their trash into.<\/p>\n

\nThe temperature is just about perfect right now, in the low 70s. It is also incredible bright up here due to the sunlight reflecting off of all the white surfaces.<\/p>\n

\nReminds me of a mix between Greece and India.<\/p>\n

\nTime to head down one of the tiny stairs in our guesthouse and hit the streets of Tangier.<\/p>\n

\nThese tiny hole in the wall shops can be found randomly all along the alleys selling snacks, drinks and eggs.<\/p>\n

\nYes!! It’s as delicious as it looks. Yummmm. Our first taste of tajine here in Morocco. I’m sure we’ll be eating much more of this for days to come. The little fried anchovies were also amazing, reminds me of Spain.<\/p>\n

\nDecided to take a little walk after our meal and check out the old city.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nInto the small streets of the old city.<\/p>\n

\nLots of fake goods here.<\/p>\n

\nFinally found it, the tomb of Ibn Battuta…allegedly. He travelled all over Europe and Asia and went as far as China.<\/p>\n

\nThe tomb was open and there was a blind man (the care taker of the tomb?) guarding the half opened door. Outside there were a group of kids teasing and messing with the old blind man. I couldn’t actually tell if the kids were being assholes to the old man or if this was just their playing routine where they tease the old man and he raises his cane pretending to hit them.<\/p>\n

\nAlright, it’s been a long time, time to head back to our guest house.<\/p>\n

\nExcept we are lost. We keep on coming up to dead ends and having to turn around.<\/p>\n

\nFinally, after one too many dead ends, we decided to take the long way round to the guest house, but a more sure way of getting there.<\/p>\n

\nInto the old kasbah (fortress) walls.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nPlace de la Kasbah. The Kasbah museum is that big white building in front.<\/p>\n

\nBab al Bahr, the fortress gate that leads to the ocean side with view of the Strait of Gibraltar.<\/p>\n

\nYou can see Spain from here right across the Strait of Gibraltar.<\/p>\n

\nWell, that’s some unexpected sightseeing that we were saving for tomorrow but we are seeing today due to getting lost. Now, time to head back to our guesthouse.<\/p>\n

\nAs we were about to reach our guesthouse, we ran into the local resident that helped us find our guesthouse earlier. He told us that this house used to be Jim Morrison’s house…again, allegedly. He also told us that he was 71 years old (he looked more like 51) and a bunch of other “facts”. But he was very jovial and nice to talk to.<\/p>\n

\nBeautiful. Back on our guesthouse top terrace for some drinks and the view. It’s a little chilly, so we are getting our drinks to bring back to our small private balcony.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nHaha, we saw these girls (Russians?) earlier on the rooftop taking pictures for social media. Hours later, they’ve changed outfits, but they are still posing all over the place taking tons of photos.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s hard to find alcohol here. We’ve only been able to find alcohol at our guesthouse and no where else.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThis is perfect, reminds me of our private balcony at our hotel in Barcelona.<\/p>\n

\nAwesome first day in the books for Morocco.<\/p>\n

Just wanted to note that somewhere along the travel day, I had strained a groin muscle on my left leg, somehow. Getting old sucks, hopefully tomorrow it won’t hurt as much.<\/p>\n
