After such a packed day yesterday, we are going to take it easy and have a slower day.<\/p>\n

\nWe didn’t get out of our hotel until 9:30am.<\/p>\n

\nWe are heading downtown, all the way to Battery Park.<\/p>\n

\nMade it to the Southern tip of Manhattan, now searching for our morning coffee.<\/p>\n

\nFound coffee.<\/p>\n

\nNoooooo! No coffee. It seems like there’s another Starbucks a few blocks away, let’s try that.<\/p>\n

\nThe kids have been asking for chai tea. We got one and split it 3 ways.<\/p>\n

\nWithout fail, everyone always takes photos touching the balls.<\/p>\n

\nWhy are her boobs so far apart? And why are her abs so ripped?<\/p>\n

\nThe playground at Battery Park. It must be tough for parents in Manhattan since there are only a handful of playgrounds.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s pretty hot and sunny out here. There’s a been a heat wave in the East Coast of the country. It’s towards the end of the heat wave, so we should be glad we are not at the hottest part of it. At the same time, a cold front while we are traveling would have been nice.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nWhile RL watched the kids, I went in search for a view point for the Statue of Liberty. When we walked into Battery Park, one of the taunts selling boat tour tickets to the Statue of Liberty said that the view point was closed. I thought he was lying…but he wasn’t. The whole area is going through a renovation and there isn’t an open spot to see the statue other than the spot above the chain linked fences…WTF. This has got to be some sort of political influence by all the boat operators to block all viewing points at this giant park all at once to sell more tickets.<\/p>\n

\nYeah, transformed into money for the boat companies and fuck everyone else. They could have easily left a small section as a view point while they are doing restoration for the rest. I’m vexed at this BS.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s hot. There are all these fruit sellers, so I got some mangos. $5 for a whole mango, in a way, not badly priced.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s time to pull the kids away from the park and go see the statue. We saw it from the top of the Empire State Building, but it’ll be slightly bigger here.<\/p>\n

\nThis nice man offered to take our photo…except you can’t see the statue in the pic.<\/p>\n

\nYou can barely barely see it there in the distance.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nYou can kind of see it zoomed in on the phone. Either way, we are glad we didn’t get on a boat to see it closer. The line was really really long and it was all waiting in the sun. The boats were very crowded and mostly open and not air conditioned. After waiting in line for who knows how long, the ride itself would have take over an hour. Fuck that. Did I mention it’s really hot already?<\/p>\n

\nKids wanted some more playground time, so we’ll do that.<\/p>\n

\nIts a nice park for sure.<\/p>\n

\nAlright, one last time and we gotta go get lunch.<\/p>\n

\nWe ate here in 2018 when me and RL came here. They just opened a location in Austin on dirty 6th.<\/p>\n

\nThe kids were impressed by the wood shavings. We were too the when we first came here.<\/p>\n

\nThey are doing some sort of photo shoot at the bar.<\/p>\n

\nThe best Scotch Eggs still.<\/p>\n

\nHmmm. I may have accidentally ordered too much food. I just wanted to try everything.<\/p>\n

\nChicken Pot Pie.<\/p>\n

\nThey make super legit cocktails here.<\/p>\n

\nNice lunch after some park time. We really like this place. Haven’t been to the Austin one, I bet it’s not anywhere near as cool as this one. I feel like Dirty 6th is a terrible location choice for a place like this. But maybe I’m wrong and the one in Austin is good too.<\/p>\n

\nKids like these basement stairs in NYC. I do too.<\/p>\n

\nCL wanted to try walking into one…this is as far as she went.<\/p>\n

\nAlright, it’s hot. Let’s get back to our hotel during the sunniest part of the day.<\/p>\n

\nMe explaining to the kids what pavement lights are on the sidewalks. Little sky lights to the basement below.<\/p>\n

\nOur subway dropped us off at Times Square. I don’t get Times Square, the kids didn’t get Times Square. But yet, here we are so we’ll take a pic.<\/p>\n

\nThere was a line to get into the store. Thank God, otherwise we would have gone in and spent more money buying things.<\/p>\n

\nShowing off their swirl Kisses that I got them from the bowl at the hotel check in counter.<\/p>\n

\nLittle KL playing with his drone and ducking down so he didn’t hit himself. We spent the rest of the afternoon napping and being on our devices in the coolness of our hotel room. A much needed easy recovery day.<\/p>\n

\nDinner time. We couldn’t get into the izakaya restaurant yesterday. Tonight, we try again at 4:30pm right when they open.<\/p>\n

\nSuccess, they’ve got a table for us.<\/p>\n

\nKirin with a beer slushy cap. Can’t say I’m the biggest fan of the cap as it tasted extra bitter.<\/p>\n

\nThey also had shuffleboard here. I was mostly worried the kids were going to accidentally break the sticks.<\/p>\n

\nBlogging station here in New York. Washington DC was top, this is right behind there though as far as view goes. I can see a corner of Bryant Park.<\/p>\n

\nThe kids having the best of times on their devices. They keep asking to be able to play Minecraft together, but I tell them that we can’t since I left the router in the car and being connected to the hotel’s internet doesn’t let them see each other as in the same network. Maybe it’s for the best. They tend to end up fighting when playing in Minecraft together because the girls usually will build a house together and exclude Little KL. Then he’ll go and destroy their stuff. It’s really a chicken or egg question on how the fights start.<\/p>\n

\nI took this photo because I was impressed by the basement elevator. I understand why the kids are impressed by basements here. How do they prevent rain from flooding it?<\/p>\n
