\nMy view while doing morning duties. It would be great, but there are mosquitos flying around me which makes it terrible. Tons of animal noises here though. Birds, crickets, frogs, etc. etc. Just non stop chatter this morning and last night.<\/p>\n

\nThis would be so cool if there were no mosquitos. We even saw a daddy long leg in the bathroom this morning. Did not expect those to be living in the rainforests.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nSo beautiful and lush. Right outside our front door, on the way to breakfast.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nIt’s like paradise, and with the sun, hopefully the squitos will subside.<\/p>\n

\nMain restaurant ahead.<\/p>\n

\nRed bananas.<\/p>\n

\nBreakfast time!!! Again, worried about mosquitos, but they never bothered me once while eating at the restaurant. Nice.<\/p>\n

\nWhat did both us were these small black bees that kept on flying around our food. The staff put some sugar water out far from our table and it worked well as bait.<\/p>\n

\nLove these giant wood planks for flooring. I wonder what kind of wood it is? I want some.<\/p>\n

\nHummingbird seen from our dining table. Hummingbirds everywhere.<\/p>\n

\nYum, but yet the kids complained about their food. I think they are still fussy and trying to get settled in their new environment.<\/p>\n

\nLove these crazy looking plant flowers.<\/p>\n

\nPlan for the day is to lounge around and explore the area. We came here for the rainforest, so we’ll do just that.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s a jungle out there behind our room.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nLooking back at our room from our private pool deck. Our “villa” is actually two villas combined and there’s another guest room next to ours. Wish we were a fully standalone building so we didn’t have to worry about the kids being too loud and bothering other people.<\/p>\n

\nDon’t remember what this picture is about, but probably being fussy. We told the kids that we’ll go on a nature walk in the rainforest trail, they wanted to stay in and watch ipad. Yeah, no, we are going on a little hike.<\/p>\n

\nMosquitos!!!! They don’t sell bug spray at the hotel, but said we can buy it in a town about 10min away.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nNo paper maps so we just took a photo on our phone.<\/p>\n

\nWe are all going to take turns holding this bottled water. It’s really hot and humid here. Actually, it’s not even very hot, just very humid.<\/p>\n

\nThat was just a short walk from our room to the front desk so that I can give them my credit card info that they forgot to get from me last night. The kids are already complaining nonstop about being hot and tired.<\/p>\n

\nAlright, let’s go on the true nature walk. We are headed to a waterfall.<\/p>\n

\nThey are building more hotel rooms here in the forest.<\/p>\n

\nDue to the terrain, everything is moved in by human power.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nThe amount the kids complained, you would have thought that we’ve walked 200 miles already.<\/p>\n

\nHiking along the creek to the waterfall.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nFound the waterfall.<\/p>\n

\nThe kids were very meh about this hike. Sigh.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nOn our way back from the waterfall, they had cordoned off this part of the trail….but this is the way back unless we wanted to backtrack. I guess we’ll be rebels and see what the trail looks like ahead and turn back if it looks dangerous.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe trail was totally fine. Wonder why it was cordoned off.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nAnd just like that, we are back to our room. Total time actually spent hiking on the trail was about 20minutes only. The kids acted like it was 20 hours…<\/p>\n

\nHot and sweaty from our hike, perfect solution to that problem.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nEveryone’s happier now.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nDrinks from the bar.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThis is what parenting looks like in our family. Kids fighting, and one of us having to break up a fight.<\/p>\n

\nCheers babe. Let’s take these few, small moments in the midst of the chaos. I love you.<\/p>\n

\nCheers! This is pretty awesome right now.<\/p>\n

\nWe taught the kids how to play Marco Polo. They think it’s the greatest game ever.<\/p>\n

\nThis finally feels like a vacation. After some swim time, the kids are on the back porch playing games on the ipads. It’s adult swim time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nIt’s a literal jungle out there.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nKids in their favorite positions, hunched over ipads. On the other side of the wooden wall is other room that shares the same roof as us. Time for the grand tour. This is what roughly $750 for 5 people a night gets you in the middle of the rainforest in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nThe bathroom with the outdoor shower.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThat frosted glass door on the rt leads to the room. We kept that door closed the entire time so mosquitos don’t get in.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nThe kids room.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe kids’ bathroom that isn’t permanently open to the outdoors. We ended up using this bathroom the most since it was mosquito and bug free. Thankful to have one bug free bathroom.<\/p>\n

\nAlright, it’s lunch time. We are going to order some room service.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nRL went to the main restaurant to order food, but it was closed for lunch. The other restaurant on site is open so RL went to try ordering at that one.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThis restaurant is located by the hotel hot springs.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nWhile RL went to get menus, I chillaxed.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nThe hot springs. We’ll come here sometime later today after lunch.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nMeanwhile, the kids are still on their ipads.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nRL came back with drinks from the restaurant and we found a fly in my ice. Kinda cool.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nTropical vacation calls for tropical drinks.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nMore adult swim time while we wait for food to be delivered, which turned into sort of a logistical issue. We are all hanging out on the back porch and the pool, so we can’t hear knocking on the front door. They said they can also call the hotel phone when they arrive with food. That’s fine except we always keep the door to the back porch closed so that mosquitos don’t fly into our room. The final solution was to leave the back door slightly cracked so that the kids can hear the phone ringing from the back porch and call call to us a couple meters away in the pool. You can probably guess how well this plan worked. The phone did ring, the kids didn’t call to us and finally I heard it. When I griped at them for not listening for the phone, they shrugged and said they heard it but didn’t say anything to us.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s taken a while for the food to show up, and we are done with our drinks. It’s my turn to head to the restaurant and order some drinks and check on the status of the food.<\/p>\n

\nWhile I was at the restaurant, our food was getting ready to be delivered. I stayed to order drinks and when I came back to the room, I found the server standing at our front door knocking on the door with no one answering…Good thing I was there and he didn’t have to wait too long. Let’s eat!<\/p>\n
