\nThe theme of this getaway is to slow down. Not gonna lie, it’s been a little bit hard for me to slow down. Every time I look at my phone and at the news, which is constantly, I see the stock market and the economy tanking due to all the Trump tariffs. I’m trying though, just gotta check that phone much less.<\/p>\n

\nRL spying on me while I was trying to get ready. I closed that blind on her.<\/p>\n

\nIt wasn’t until past 10am when we got out of our room. I guess we achieved that part of slowing down, a slow start to the day.<\/p>\n

\nBeautiful sunny day.<\/p>\n

\nNot ADA compliant.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nFound the coffee shop we were looking for. Before we could see the shop, we could smell it. I was wondering what that burnt smell was.<\/p>\n

\nThey are literally roasting coffee beans and just venting all the smoke out into the sidewalk. Still smells incredibly strongly of roasting coffee inside. I guess we’ll get the coffee to go so we don’t end up smelling like coffee all day.<\/p>\n

\nCold brew, nice.<\/p>\n

\nThen a visit to a bakery. They’ve got pizza slices baked!<\/p>\n

\nThen to nearby park to eat our breakfast and drink coffee…slowly.<\/p>\n

\nThe world’s crumblest pastry. The birds are going to have a field day after I get up from this park bench.<\/p>\n

\nAfter our breakfast in the park, came back to drop off the extra pastries that we got. Then back out to stroll around.<\/p>\n

\nRL found a pottery store she had to look in.<\/p>\n

\nThere’s always a bench in the store for the other spouse.<\/p>\n

\nWe are going to visit the inside of Santo Domingo today, then afterwards we’ll head right next door to visit the Museum of Oaxacan Culture<\/p>\n

\nImmediately met with a very ornate ceiling.<\/p>\n

\nSo incredibly ornate inside.<\/p>\n

\nThere are 3 different locks, but apparently the bike lock is the only one that works.<\/p>\n

\nWhat a ceiling though.<\/p>\n

\nThis super elaborate ceiling reminds me of the ceilings in the Vatican Museum.<\/p>\n

\nVery impressive interior. A major juxtaposition to the relatively muted exterior.<\/p>\n

\nNow we head into the museum of culture next door in what used to be a 17th century convent.<\/p>\n

\nHere’s our map, a photo taken with my phone. There’s no crowds here at all right now. Loving the quietness.<\/p>\n

\nFrom the second floor of the cultural museum, you can get a great view of the Oaxaca Botanical Garden. We will make plans to visit the garden during our time here.<\/p>\n
