Continued from Paris 2026 Day 5 Part 2.<\/p>\n

Last day here in Paris. Like most days so far, it’ll be a hot one. Plan is to take it easy, pack, and just hangout around our area that we can walk to. No subways today!<\/p>\n

\nAnother RL breakfast.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nPretty sure our kids get their closed eyes photos from RL.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nAnother day, another laundry day. The washer\/dryer units here in Europe are small, so we end up having to do a lot of loads.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nAnd we just realized this. The white pods above that the airbnb left by the washer\/dryer are what we’ve been washing to wash our clothes….that is until we ran our dishwasher and the dishwasher pods look exactly like the washer pods…which made us conclude that those washer pods were actually dishwasher pods!! Good thing this box of laundry pods we bought in London we hauled all the way to Paris comes to the rescue!<\/p>\n

\nLong 2 hour plus cycles…and just as long if not longer than drying. Europeans treat using energy and hot water like it’s a sin, but apparently wasting time is not since time for them is free and is treated like it’s unlimited.<\/p>\n

\nContinuing our chill morning of ipad time. You can see me blogging away in the mirror…albeit way behind already. I’m currently writing this blog page in Siena Italy.<\/p>\n

\nLet’s get the kids bags packed.<\/p>\n

\nThen it’s time to head out. RL wants a breakfast smoothie, and then the kids wants to go to the place with the pillars to play around.<\/p>\n

\nOh, we walked by a kitchen supply store, let’s see if they’ve got a baguette holder. Not likely, but let’s have a look anyway.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nThe lift leg like she’s posing with something cute when it’s just a giant stock pot. No baguette holders here. I’ll need to buy one state side and order it from europe.<\/p>\n

\nThe smoothie\/juice shop.<\/p>\n

\nI don’t know about you, but that’s very very pink and very very purple and very very green. Those can’t be natural colors…the healthy drinks that the kids got are…Tool healthy. LKL and PL both took a few sips and decided they didn’t like them and we had to throw them away.<\/p>\n

\nThat’s a lie. All cans are lined with a thin layer of plastic!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nWe showed up to the place with the columns and it’s blocked off…looks like they are setting up for a concert here…Nooo…maybe there’s another entrance we can go in.<\/p>\n

\nSuccess!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nWay to ruin their background LKL.<\/p>\n

\nSoon after we got here, PL said she isn’t feeling well. She says the drink from earlier made her throat feel scratchy and she feels like throwing up. We think she may be allergic to something that she drank in one of those drinks even though RL had asked if they had nuts or peanuts in them beforehand. Or maybe she’s allergic to something in them that’s not even a tree nut or peanut.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nShe’s feeling really sick.. Oh man, she must have ingested something and her voice has gotten really scratchy. RL looked in her mouth with the phone light and it was red and lumpy. We gave her a zyrtec. that we had with us…but of course, we didn’t bring an Epipen since we were only gonna be 5min from home base.<\/p>\n

\nMeanwhile. this lady climbing up the tallest pillar without any help. Kinda impressive.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nAlright, let’s get out of here. Let’s go home and see if PL will feel better then. Ugh.<\/p>\n

\nShe held on until we got to a very busy plaza then let loose into the bag. Poor girl. Hopefully she’ll feel better then. Obviously threw up her zyrtec, so after she threw up we gave her another zyrtec and a benedryl. Let’s hope the double action will help her.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nBack home. We were worried, she hasn’t had a big allergic reaction like this to something in years. The most she would have would be some slight hives around her mouth that would disappear with some zyrtec. Slowly the meds kicked in and she felt much better. Phew, that was a little worrisome. I was already thinking plan B if it kept on getting worse. There’s the epipen, but also, we live right next door to the firehouse, so that would be our next stop if it got worse. But look at her, always has to smile for a picture even when she’s feeling bad.<\/p>\n

\nWell, it’s lunch time, and with PL just starting to get better, none of us wanted to go out and eat at a restaurant. CL and I are out and about searching for sushi to take away a few blocks from home.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThis is not looking good, the restaurants are all already super busy. Sure enough, the sushi place we wanted to get to go was so busy they didn’t even have time to take our order as we waited around. Fuck this, I’ll go back and talk to RL and maybe we can just get something from the grocery store nearby and make sandwiches.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nRL making us all yummy sandwiches.<\/p>\n

\nI came back home hangry, RL went to grocery store around the corner, she got bread and meat to make us sandwiches. I’ll enjoy some cold Orangina and cool down from this stupid heat.<\/p>\n

\nLunch while we watch Naruto.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nI ate my sandwich, and tasted some of the sandwich meat and it’s something I’ve never had before. Tastes raw…but what do I know, its probably some French cured meat…well…I ate it and ate it and finished my sandwich. Then I asked RL about it…she showed me the label, I translated it and next to my thumb it says, “to cook”. Fuck….that was indeed raw bacon I just ate and it’s in half of the kids sandwitches!<\/p>\n

\nTook out the raw bacon (looks like ham) from LKL’s sandwich. Man, today is not a good day for us as far as food safety goes. I hope it goes away and we don’t get sick from it since bacon is at least smoke and salt cured. We dodged one bullet this morning with PL, let’s hope we dodge another bullet later today and not get food poisoning.<\/p>\n

\nFor dinner, we are going to walk over to The Centre Pompidou and find a spot there and check the area out.<\/p>\n

\nLKL saw these Wanted poster some other time here in Paris and has been asking what they meant. We finally saw one again and I told them it’s probably about some competition. I only recognize Magnus Carlson so maybe it’s a chess competition?<\/p>\n

\nThis area feels much edgier than the area we are at even though it’s only maybe a 10min walk away.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nToo bad we didn’t come by this way earlier in the trip, would have been fun to explore the area more. But there’s just so much to see in Paris, can’t see it all.<\/p>\n

\nThey do use these bike lanes here…but….would these people usually just walk or take the subway anyway??<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nIs that some special magical ice cream? the line is really long.<\/p>\n

\nCentre Pompidou, it’s under renovation and closed otherwise I would have a made a point to visit again.<\/p>\n

\nWe were about to leave the area, turned around and couldn’t find CL and LKL. Then we saw that they were over chasing pigeons. Haha. Hey stop that, they’ll poop on you.<\/p>\n

\nTrash truck driving through this tiny street.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s so large(actually small by US standards) that it rubs against all the plants along the sidewalks.<\/p>\n

\nCL was such a big fan of duck confit that she wanted to order it again. Good job child.<\/p>\n

\nDid not expect to see that here. Ram TRX I believe. I heard another table say how it’s stupid to drive that truck here.<\/p>\n

\nAlright, done with dinner, time to walk back home. Tomorrow, we leave Paris and head to Italy.<\/p>\n

\nHere we go, maybe this one will work for my background! Golden hour so no one blinked their eyes this time.<\/p>\n

\nI know we are in Paris but this reminds me of all the candy shops that we saw in London last time we were there. I always thought that there were way too many and something fishy was going on. Sure enough, this time in London there were very few candy stores. I wonder what that was all about?<\/p>\n

\nDuring our walk back, we saw several people buying new fans like this guy. It’s record breaking heat, and it shows. Miserably hot and it’s only gonna get hotter next week. Glad we are leaving tomorrow and heading to Italy where it’s still hot, but at lest it’s more typical of the weather there.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nWe told the kids that we would get them some desserts after dinner. The ice shop had nuts on everything, so that was a no go. The kids settled on the Japanese sodas with the glass marble that they found here at the grocery store.<\/p>\n

\nTeam USA plays tonight, so I left the kids with RL and went down to my favorite brasserie to grab a drink and watch the game. YoutubeTV doesn’t work here and won’t work with my vpn so streaming inside our room was a no go.<\/p>\n

\nNo one is here watching the USA game, I had to ask the bar staff to turn it on in fact. No one is sitting inside except for me…and the moment I sat down, I understood why, it’s hot inside with no breeze.<\/p>\n

\nThere’s an open seat there, I’ll move there instead and sit in the breeze.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nCold beer tastes delicious on a hot night.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nCome on TEAM USA!!! I was literally the only one watching the game here. All the others around me were I guess local Parisians and didn’t care.<\/p>\n

\"\"No problem, I’ll have another beer, go USA!<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nIt’s Friday night and people are out and about. They kept on having to move more tables from inside onto the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

\nHydration break! We won by beating Australia 2-0.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nGoodnight Paris, til next time.<\/p>\n
