Paris 2026 Day 2 Part 2

Continued from Paris Day 2 Part 1.

RL said that this is what the girls and her will look like in another few decades.

This gallery is probably my favorite, many Jacques-Louis David master pieces are here.

Not a David piece, but still awesome.

Probably my favorite. It’s amazing how everything is perfectly to scale and it’s GIANT!

More naked people fighting. Last time I was here, I made fun of them being naked and in sandals.

This was RL’s favorite. I mean, is this not just as good as the Mona Lisa? Look at that face, she obviously knows things, jokes, secrets. RL said she looks like a great dinner companion. No one standing around this looking at it. RL said she thinks this is her favorite painting in the Louve.

Holy shit ball crowd still. This is still close to the Mona Lisa, hopefully the crowd will thin out the farther away we get.

Venus de Milo. PL had wanted to see this…except we came here and we were here for a maybe 3 minutes so that CL could get in front of it and take a photo…but yet, PL doesn’t remember seeing it at all. I mean, the Louvre is very overwhelming.

CL’s picture of it. Again, a side photo due to the huge crowd in front of it.

Reminds me of me carrying my children around.

RL asked if this will be our fire place for our new house. Yup, this exact one. We’ll just buy it from the Louvre when we leave at the gift shop. I’m sure it’s for sale.

Coconuts, right? How’d they get here? Do you think swallows flew them in to France?

Kids had a lot of questions about this one.

Walking in an extremely crowded museum is exhausting mentally and physically. Let’s take a little water break. It’s also very hot in the museum due to all the people in it.

The ceiling above our little sitting area in the staircase.

We are finally reaching a less visited part of the museum. This is much nicer…except we are all tired now.

Napoleon’s apartment furnishings.

I love that window. It has two colors of glass and with the rotation of the lines gives the illusion that it’s turning. Love it.

With so many art work in achieves, I’m surprised they displayed an unfinished work here. RL just told me that it wasn’t unfinished and all this particular artist’s paintings were in this style.

Running out of energy.

A zoom in on the painting above. Look at that detail, all the brush strokes. So cool.

Pictures within a picture.

Energy level zero.

These two are done for the day here. It’s only been a little bit over an hour since we’ve entered the museum. I kinda get it through, somehow the crowds just sucks all energy out of you.

These two still have more energy to keep going.

I don’t think I’d like this child. I definitely wouldn’t want to know him as a grown up.

Same painter. Look, the lady on the right painting looks exactly like the lady right to her left.

RL saw this and she said he looked just like Eminem!!

Hahahaha, the resemblance is uncanny!!! She found the real slim shady!

Tired, can we go now?

Out of focus, but you can make out we are in room 821….except, there is no such thing as room 821 on this map. And since the rooms aren’t necessary in sequence, it’s pretty unhelpful.

Alright, I think this way to the exit. PL asked if we saw half of the museum. Hmmm, no. Maybe 1/4 of it? Either way, there’s no more to give from us, we’ll have to save the rest for next time.

Saw these in the gift shop. Too bad we didn’t see this in the museum.

Now, we are looking for an exit from the Louvre.

And the only museum exit that I could find literally exits onto a…

Shopping mall!!!! What, really!?

Alright, Louvre took it out of us. It was hot inside with all those people. It was hard to move around. It was a lot of stuff to look at. We are tired. Let’s go home and rest some.

Oh, what have we here. This is the Palais Royal, and they’ve got these columns as an art installation. The kids saw other kids on them, and immediately also wanted to go on them. We told them they can go across the columns, and we would wait across the way at the exit.

Like every single kid here, many adults, and definitely my kids immediately try to climb onto the columns.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

The last one needs a little boost from baba after helping the other two.

There was this “influencer” who was already here when we arrived, and was still here after we left. RL knows me so well when I asked her to look at me and smile, she knew I was trying to get a photo of the influencer. The influencer must have taken like 40 photos all in different poses…like…this is what we spent hours scrolling through now in our lives?

Spy photo successful.

Ok wild animals, time to move on. The influencer was still taking pictures of herself in the same spot when we left.

Lunch spot, a little Italian spot.

Oops…we didn’t realize this but they actually close to 3pm today. We walked in with like 30 minutes before they closed for the day since it’s Monday. Kids, eat quickly so they can close up shop.

Now that lunch is done, heading to our next stop.

One of the items that CL wants to buy in a beret. RL found a hat shop for her to try them out, and this is the one we ended up buying.

Then, it’s on to visit one of the places that PL wants to go to in Paris.

A Parisan bakery to get a baguette.

Here we go.

PL’s verdict. It’s really good, but about the same as other baguettes that she’s had before. But still good.

Another thing PL wanted in Paris is to buy a baguette holder. I made the mistake of showing her unique car accessory that you can get in a Renault that’s a baguette holder for a car. We visited couple of these kitchen supply stores but the only thing close is one of those bigger baskets that hold a lot of baguettes at bakeries. RL said we probably would only be able to find one at a antique store or market.

These are the only baguette holders offered and needs to be ordered…not to mention, no way to bring that back easily.

We’ve been seeing these tile space invaders and other video game characters all over town. I pointed them out to the kids and now instead of watching for cars and other pedestrians while walking around, they are all too busy looking to find the next one of these…

Then I received this email on my phone. Our tickets to Versailles in 2 days has been cancelled for an unstated reason….Fucking shit. Now I need to rebook them again for another day and hope there are still openings. It turns out it was Trump’s here for G7 and the Iran war peace agreement and they had a dinner at Versailles. Blah. Fortunately, I was able to rebook for the day after and we didn’t have any hard plans that day either. On a brighter note, we were able to book for a later entry time since we’ve been so tired in the morning still.

The wifi in our unit hasn’t worked well since we got here. The management company sent a repair guy, and nothing was fixed. Our router is just broken. Oh well, at least I can connect to the other units and it’s still fast.

It’s been a long day already even though we’ve only really seen the Louvre. We are tired, but we still need to eat some lunch.

Found a little brasserie right around the corner from us. It’s a no nonsense little spot, a little divey, with reasonable prices 5 Euro beers.

Seems like a French thing to eat.

While we were here, our friend who is dog sitting our dog sent us this photo of our stupid mutt laying in their warm laundry. Dumb mutt. They are spoiling her rotten there and I’m sure she’s loving it.

While our dumb dog is laying in laundry back in Austin, it’s also laundry time for us. That’s a long cycle. It’s a shared airbnb washer/dryer, so we’ve been having to set our alarm and get up from dinner to flip the laundry when needed.

Yum.

CL is a fan of duck confit. Good choice.

I ask and ask, but he still eats with his hands nonstop.

Back at our airbnb for some Naruto watching time before bed. We’ve been watching Naruto back in Austin as a family and we are continuing it here via using VPN.

Oh, it’s sprinkling some rain here. Kinda cool.

It’s late, but still so light outside.

To be continued at Paris 2026 Day 3 Part 1.
