Continued from Bologna 2026 Day 2 Part 2.

I guess one advantage of staying at a hotel is that we get an included breakfast buffet.

That’s pretty cool, a whole slab of honey.

Oh, great news! While we were having breakfast, the airbnb host messaged me and said that the power came back!!! Victory!! We finished breakfast, checked out and moved all of our stuff back to our airbnb.

Then it’s back at the hotel where they’ll help us call a cab. I was a paying customer last night, so now I can get use their concierge service in calling a cab.

Cab will pick us up a little bit down this way since we are in pedestrian only area.

Look, it’s so cute!

No AC, only fans inside!
The cab came, couldn’t pick us up since it was only a regular sized cab that fit 4 people. Blah, 3 kid life.

Back at the hotel where they are requesting a 5+ seater cab for us.

The hotel requested and requested, but there were no 5+ seater cabs willing to come pick us up and we got tired and waiting for one that would finally come. Fuck this, we’ll just walk to the train station instead. We’ve got these porticos to shade us, how bad can it be?

Porticos are very nice, provides much needed shade.

This building is smart. You walk through diagonal through the courtyard and the train station is on the other side. They of course lined the cool covered courtyard with shops.

Train station. That wasn’t too bad of a walk, shoulda done that in the first place.

Now, use this self service machine to buy a ticket. Nice that they all have English options now.

Doesn’t seem too difficult…

We are taking the 11:23 train headed towards Modena.

There’s our train waiting for us already. Seems easy enough…or is it? We waited, and maybe about 15min before we were supposed to board, we see a movement from the crowd. See people talking to the train staff standing by the engine of the train, and then people walking off. Something is happening. I head over, and found out that this train has been cancelled for some reason, and now we’ll need to take another train on a different platform….Fuck. Italian trains aren’t making this easy.

At the new platform, I believe this is our new train…maybe.

Train travel in a foreign country is a little stressful when you don’t speak the language and can’t understand the announcements. Either way, it seems like we are headed towards Modena.

We’ve reached Modena.

Now we go to a taxi stand where we can hopefully find a taxi that can seat 5 and then take us to Maranello.

Not a 5 seater.

And we got very lucky. As it became our turn to get a taxi, a 6 seater Prius shows us as a taxi. Perfect!

Let’s do this!

They’ve got those London Plane trees here as well. Fucking hell.

I don’t know what’s happening here, but lol.

Very shortly into the trip, PL who was seated way in the back started getting carsick. I gave her my seat up front and I moved to the second row.

Then LKL in the second row started feeling sick as well. We are out of throw-up bags, but I did buy some small trash bags as makeshift throw-up bags…Except these are the world’s thinnest trash bags so we’d double bag them to make sure they didn’t leak. Either way, it’s terrible. Our taxi driver is not a smooth driver and I think that’s what’s contributing to our carsickness.

We are almost there. Fiorano Track.

We made it out of the car and no one puked yet.

Look at all these Ferrari workers in red outfits.

Out of the car, but danger zone not passed yet. They are all still carsick.

The Ferrari factory gate!

Meanwhile…

Cool, cars used for testing.

Alright children, I know we are all hot, hangry, and feel like throwing up, but we need to move from the curb into a restaurant where it’s cooler and we can get some water and food. Let’s get up, come on!

Originally wanted to eat here, Ristorante Cavallino, but they were all booked out. Plus…it looks a little too fancy for us.

Come on kids, let’s get up and rally.

Alright, got them into another restaurant right by where we got dropped off by the car. What happened in that 25 min car ride?! We are all carsick and have had all of our energy sapped out of us.

Oh look, bread! I can see the energy coming back and the nausea slowing going away.

I can see my energy coming back too. This restaurant is right across Ferrari factory, and workers kept on streaming in here at lunch time, but not for lunch and instead for a shot of expresso and a cup of water. Then they’d leave without paying, maybe they’ve got a house account with them?

Oh, this looks pretty good.

Chicken cutlet.

Pork cutlet….or was this chicken. Either way, both are delicious.

Nice. Side of grilled vegetables. We discovered that at almost all Italian restaurants, they almost always offer a side of grilled veggies for order.

The guzzle nutella here in Italy like nobody’s business. Half of the time, they just call it chocolate I think. But would you look at that industrial sized nutella dispenser? It is very good.

Had lunch, everyone’s feeling much better now.

Most of the Ferraris that I saw driving around were actually exotic rentals that they have here around the factory. I guess people come visit here, and they want to rent a Ferrari to drive around.

Ferrari Museum right up ahead.

Actually not crowded at all. I bought the tickets beforehand and it’s not even a timed entry. It’s just for a specific day and show up anytime during opening hours.

Odd that they’ve got this sticker on this Ferrari.

Also, right hand drive example. Looks, it’s not very crowded at all.

Everyone always makes fun of Ferrari factory welds. I’ve seen worse, they must have improved with their more modern cars.

Well, this is a treat. Didn’t expect to see the new F80 here!!! I want!!!!

599 Kers mule with giant nostrils.

Love it. Love how these modern supercars have such wide door openings and the sills aren’t as wide as supercars of 20 years ago. What used to be an impossible sliding job of getting into the seat is now easier than probably many normal cars.
