Continued from Taiwan Day 2 Part 1.

It’s hot, they sell popsicles, can’t say no. The kids took forever to decide which flavor they each wanted.

Yum, hit the spot for all of us. It’s so hot and humid.

Piranha, and they are actually in a separate tank located just behind the tank holding all the other smaller fish in front. Gives the illusion that they are all housed in the same tank.

Hoping to turn the frog into a prince. RL dared them to kiss the frog and they actually contemplated doing it, haha.

CL takes the dare! No princes appeared.

Alright, let’s get out of this heat.

Improve baby’s concentration!!! We promised the kids we’d go visit the museum gift shop, so here we are.

Actually, this is an awesome museum gift shop. They’ve got these Mr. Fossil real fossil that they sell and they are super neat. I want a piece of fossil for my home!

I want this as my mantel piece.

And it’s priced like a trophy piece of fossil too, $140k usd.

Little KL got a geode, so we’ll be breaking that apart here.

Crack! It was filled with quartz. Cool.

CL got this at the museum shop, an owl (apparently) she named it sherbet.

We are heading to lunch, I think jetlag is hitting for all of us.

Lunch spot.

The original bubble tea was invented by this teahouse. This isn’t the original location, but one of the many branches around town. Still pretty cool to drink bubble tea at the OG restaurant chain though.

We invited our driver to dine with us.

Yeah, we are all fading quickly. We had plans to visit another museum after lunch…but probably not prudent dealing with tired kids and tired parents.

Ah Ma accidentally knocked over a cup of milk tea. You can see the cup there with half of it poured onto the table. I’m surprised not more of it poured out. Made a mess, but the staff came by quickly to help us clean up.

I got beef noodle soup, which I didn’t grow up eating because my parents didn’t eat beef. RL said it reminds her a little of an Irish stew. It makes sense the moment she said it.

Milk Tea 4 Lyfe.

Look at this funny shaped plant.

Forgot what I was saying, but I think I was probably teasing little KL because he’s been kind of a butt.

So tired, we are so tired. Must fight jet lag. We are waiting for our driver to get the car to pick us back up. Must go visit one more place to force us to stay awake for a bit longer.

Our driver suggested a little street arts and crafts market.

They also had a store with claw machines here.

One of the claw machines was filled with dicks and more dicks. I think we’ll stand in front of this one so the kids won’t see it…

We all tried and tried, but no one could get any prizes. Kids, gambling is bad.

Back to the crafts market, the kids wanna get something.

That’s one prickly tree.

After crafts market, I wanted visit a stall that sold red bean cakes.

RL mentioned that they taste like pancakes…then it clicks again. They do taste like pancakes!

Ah ma wanted to buy some fruits. So she visited a store that sold nothing but fruits. Taiwanese love their fruits.

Just one single stall 2 post lift in what’s normally a walking arcade. Imagine having this in America with our zoning regulations.

Alright, let’s go back home. Time for a nap.

But before that nap, a beer. This is a $12 beer from the hotel bar. That’s $$$$$ even for hotel bar standards. But it’s been so hot, this beer really hit the spot.

Woke up really grumpy from jetlag nap. Now, we try to wake up the kids too who are napping at my grandma’s apartment.

While the kids are trying to wake up from their nap, I’ll sit in grandma’s massage chair.

Bento boxes for dinner tonight.

Not just any bento box though, this is from a very popular restaurant that I used to eat as a kid. So good.

And of course, ah ma made soup.

And fruits.

Time to go back to our hotel. We saw this cicada emerging from the ground trying to make it to a tree to shed its shell. They are everywhere right now.

Our hotel, and our home for most of our stay in Taiwan. Glad to have some separation from the kids, but yet still only be one block away. Now…let’s hope I can sleep most of the night and not wake up in the middle of the night.
To be continued at Taiwan Day 3.
