Santa Fe Day 3 Part 2

Continued From Santa Fe Day 3 Part 1.

Look, I helped little KL find a boat. This scavenger hunt is actually kind of hard.

We had one last item on PL’s scavenger hunt that we just could not find, with everyone helping already. Finally we read next to the picture a little hint that it’s in a hallway. Well, it turned out that last little heart figure we were looking for wasn’t in the big room that contained every other item. No wonder we couldn’t find it.

They had this little playroom at the end of the museum. Kids really loved it here. We definitely sat here and let them play for longer than expected since they were all having such a good time.

A quick walk across the plaza after the folk art museum is our lunch spot.

This is essentially the museum cafe serving the 2 museums and botanical garden all next to each other.

I got duck flautas. I like duck.

Look at this amazing weather here. It’s 104 or 105 in Austin today. We sat outside, the temperature was just perfect.

Again, Santa Fe is currently filled with old people. Everyone here looks to be about 70 or older.

Back down the hill and back down to downtown Santa Fe.

We got back to our vacation rental, I took a nap, kids got on their ipads, and RL went strolling around the shops.

And after not quite enough nap time, it’s now time to head to another museum. This one is within walking distance.

Georgia O’Keefe Museum.

Lol. Just pure coincidence he was doing this.

What they say is true, O’Keefe’s paintings look like private parts.

My favorite one.

Again, private parts.

I really like this one too. I remember seeing something similar in another museum, but a much much larger format.

The kids were given an assignment to copy their favorite painting here and also answer a few questions about the paintings. They girls were engaged with it.

Little KL, however, has completely lost his shit. He’s rolling around, giggling uncontrollably, can’t stand up straight….He’s over tired, and it’s not even dinner time yet.

Calm.

Not calm.

And that’s that for the O’Keefe museum. It was quite small actually.

They are all crazy hyper right now, it’s kinda hot out here, and they are not gonna be hungry for another hour.

We tried looking for a restaurant with a playscape, any restaurant, and basically came out empty handed on the first try. Well, let’s hop into a pub right around the corner and at least grab a drink while we figure out our next move.

I was thinking about how I would probably have a good time drinking if I wasn’t already really tired and needed to keep parenting 3 really active kids.

Seems at least they can at be loud and run around in the outside space here.

Immediately bored.

I had ordered some popcorns from the bar. Let’s play some games to earn their popcorn. Who can balance on one leg the longest?

Both of the girls took turns winning.

Let me think of another game.

Show me who can open their mouth the biggest? Lol.

Leaving the bar. Through some more careful browsing, we did manage to find a restaurant within walking distance that had a little playground.

A rare sight here in Santa Fe.

I’ve had enough fried and Mexican food by now. I actually ordered a salad for myself.

The kids played this game where they threw the large connect 4 round disks onto the the top of the slide. When the disks came sliding down, whoever was at the bottom would hop to jump over them. Me and RL were just both exhausted by this point. Traveling is tiring, traveling with kids is even more tiring.

After dinner, time to walk back home and start winding down for the night.

Very convenient. Our vacation rental came with a laundry room and they had detergent stocked. This is the first time in my life to use a laundry pod of any sort. I keep thinking it’ll just melt and burst in my hand.

We put the kids to bed, and sat out in our private courtyard. The kids aren’t asleep yet. KL keeps coming out to us complaining of something. It’s just always harder to put kids to sleep outside of their usual routine.

Despite having a kid bother us every 5 minutes or so, it still just about perfect out here chilling with RL.

To be continued at Durango Day 1.
