Santa Fe Day 2

Continued From Santa Fe Day 1.

RL loves these adobe homes and Southwest decor. She loved this sink.

First mission for the day is to get coffee. The temperature here in Santa Fe is cooler, in the mid 80s or low 90s during the hottest time of the day. It’s still a little warm, but not 104 like it is in Austin right now.

A couple blocks from us is this coffee shop.

Cool spot, which means our kids are gonna be too distracting for most of the people here.

Why am I feeding them cookies?

They all wanted to try some drinks, so chai tea and matcha for them. Then of course, they all complained that it was too hot, except for CL. She drank her tea like a champ.

With our drinks, we decided to take a little morning walk along this creek. Hopefully get some energy out of the kids…maybe.

RL takes a selfie…of her own eyes closed. Hahaha.

KL points.

“What could be nicer than drinking tea and walking next to a creek.”-CL Funny when those words randomly come out of a 6 year old’s mouth.

Back to our vacation rental condo after our coffee and short walk. Love the architecture at our rental, it’s really well thought out and beautifully designed.

Alright, it’s time to get going for our big event for the day now.

We kept everything a surprise for the kids, so they had no idea what we are doing this morning.

We got 10am reservations, and there was already a long line when we got here.

They can’t guess what it is. They kept on thinking it was a movie theater.

No mushrooms, lol. Meow Wolf was also surrounded by cannabis businesses. It makes sense to get high and then come visit Meow Wolf.

I’m excited for the kids to experience this. Hell, I am happy that me and RL get to experience this as well.

Love it.

They built an entire house inside here.

A fridge with a secret passage behind it.

Portal through the dryer.

Let’s go!

Behind the house is a whole wonderland of….wonders.

Meow Wolf is like crack for kids. Everywhere they looked, they just pointed, yelled, ran around, pointed and yelled some more. Everything was exciting and out of this world for them. Awesome.

Pure amusement.

This was my favorite section.

Another portal, through the fridge.

This was cool, if you knock on the ribs, it plays different music notes.

In Meow Wolf, this means enter.

You can also play music notes by blocking the laser beams.

Pussy face pussy?

We were inside for about an hour and a half, and the entire time the kids just ran around nonstop looking and touching everything. What a crazy and amazing place for the kids, and also for the adults. Would recommend to anyone.

After that craziness at Meow Wolf, time to get some lunch.

This is something we’ve never encountered before. My kids have infinite energy, but after an hours and a half of Meow Wolf, they came into the restaurant and they slumped over in the booth. They were mentally exhausted. I’ve never seem them over stimulated this quickly or this completely by anything before. The powers of Meow Wolf is not to be underestimated.

Traveling with 3 really active kids is very stressful.

Instead of chips and salsa, we were offered carrots and celery. Not sure how I feel about this.

The sopapillas with honey butter was the bomb. So so so good!

I had foolishly brought these “make your own candy” treat boxes from the Japanese grocery store in Austin. The kids keep on pestering me to help them make some, but I’m so exhausted from the trip even though it’s only day 3. Alright, let’s make one of them.

RL enjoying her quiet time in our courtyard while I’m trying to give instruction to 3 kids.

Finished! little candy burgers and fries.

Well, at least the candy was a hit. Now, go watch your ipads for a bit while mama and baba lay down for a nap. We don’t have infinite energy.

After a nap that’s always interrupted and never quite long enough, we are now out and about. Heading to check out Santa Fe Plaza, only a couple blocks from our vacation rental. Love walkable places.

Lots and lots of gift shops here. Lots of older people. Santa Fe is a magnet for older people, even my kids noticed that there are very few children and younger people here.

Santa Fe Plaza. Reminds me of the plazas that I see in Mexico.

Alright, enough browsing of shops, time to eat.

Good thing my kids will eat Mexican food…for the most part.

Back at home base. The girls are playing with their scratch pads that they got at Meow Wolf gift shop.

Then it’s bed time. Little KL is such a trouble maker, we always need to put him to bed by himself in his own bed. Then after he falls asleep, transfer him into the king sized bed with his sisters so that me and RL can get our own room. Exhausted, but overall a pretty fun filled day.

Exhausted parents. At least we get to chill out on this amazing private courtyard. Love this small intimate space, and the weather here at night time is just perfect.

Beautiful weather, beautiful sound of the wind of the leaves. Perfect.

To be continued at Santa Fe Day 3 Part 1.
