Southern California Day 7

Continued from Southern California Day 6.

Our last day full day in San Diego, tomorrow we head back home, let’s make the most of it.

On our way to morning coffee, saw this right by our hotel. Someone didn’t have a good night. It also appeared to have rained overnight. Speaking of weather, we’ve been exceptionally lucky so far with weather. No rain on us while the rest of the country is dealing with blizzards and icy cold. Our return to flight seems like it’ll be on time since all the airlines(except Southwest) have had time to fix all of their cancelled schedules.

We walked by this donut shop a few times over the past few days, so wanted to give it a try. Well, they had donuts, but their sitting area was closed due to rain last night and they didn’t have cold brew available.

I guess it’s back to Starbucks for cold brew.

Draining out all the water accumulated on the foosball table. Since it rained last night, after coffee, we couldn’t go to the park so we came back to our hotel to play some foosball until our next mystery activity opened up.

Another short drive will get us to our activity for the day.

RL and I both really like this bridge.

And, we are here.

San Diego Zoo.

Lol.

I didn’t know the zoo was so forested. Our kids are raging today, unsure if it’s because they didn’t get playground time this morning or what, but they are wild.

Lots of animals hiding today, maybe due to the rain last night?

Look at this giant bamboo I said…then RL told me it’s a palm tree. Now I feel dumb.

PL points.

And now, pose.

Seriously, the kids are a handful today, more so than the previous 3 days.

So many tropical plants grow so well in this climate.

Starting shit.

Getting fussy. I think after a week of traveling and not getting great sleep, all of us are getting fussy.

Red panda, so cute.

Probably my favorite family photo of us.

It’s there, the middle of the photo.

Because there’s 5 of us, we had to split into two cars.

It was hard to convince little KL that this ride wasn’t scary…he was fine once we got on it, thankfully.

CL points.

Of course, once we got to the end of the line, we had to make a return trip since our stroller is still at the other station. Instead of just riding all the way around, we had to exit and get in line again. This side of the line is longer than the other side, but still only about 10min. It felt like forever, the kids are really really really acting up today. We are both parenting really hard and the kids are just not listening and fighting with each other nonstop.

Trying to look innocent like she’s not starting shit.

Yeah, he’s in the crazy zone now.

The girls really wanted to ride in the flamingo cart, and as luck would have it, it came right when it was our turn.

Balboa Park.

Giant anteaters are such odd looking animals.

Fuss and fuss some more. All three of them are driving us crazy today.

In search of restroom and lunch.

Found the restroom. The map on the San Diego Zoo app is very confusing and we kept on getting lost.

Finally found the restaurant, it was located on the ground level in a three level area. Of course, not listed anywhere on the map and no way finding signs in the actual park either.

Videos on R’s phone to the rescue!

Beautiful setting.

How the parents are feeling currently. Honestly, the kids are crazy today. We are trying so hard but we just can’t get them to calm down and behave.

Please simmer down children.

Albert’s restaurant here in the zoo, the food was pretty good.

My $15 beer. I didn’t want a souvenir cup, but it was the only way to get a beer. Now I get to throw it away.

Found an area for them to run around and play hide and seek, but it didn’t really calm them down much. I think our time here is almost up.

This photo sequence shows it all. Happy taking a photo…

Turns around…

Gets a handful…just zoom in on their faces to really see the full emotions in this…

Crying, and now everyone is fighting. WTF, it’s this shit nonstop today.

Koalas are really cute.

But the kids are more interested at this little fake climbing tree next to the koala exhibit.

Say cheese.

Holy shit, that was an unexpectedly hard trip to the zoo. We called it quits, and came back to our hotel. Glad we are heading back home to Austin tomorrow.

Leaving the zoo, we left a little bit after 1pm in the afternoon. I think we only got to the zoo at around 9ish. That’s all we’ve got in the tank today apparently.

A couple hours of rest in the hotel room with TV on for everyone to calm down, then we are out again. We couldn’t make the playground earlier today, and kids have been asking for it, so we are heading to playground this afternoon before we head out to dinner.

Lots of other kids at the park this afternoon. Our kids made some instant playmates.

It’s dinner time, bay side restaurant right next to the playground.

Everyone is happy again after getting some energy out at the playground.

Not a bad view for our last dinner on our family vacation.

The kids loved the crispy brussels sprouts.

Food was excellent, kind of unexpected since it was a restaurant with a good view, and those usually have mediocre food.

Our dinner spot, I’ll have to remember this place next time I come to San Diego.

After dinner, the kids wanted to watch the ultimate foosball match, baba vs. mama.

Mama kicked my ass. I guess I suck at foosball…

After that hard day at the zoo, it’s actually pretty chill right now. Wait, I take that back a little bit, when we were almost done with dinner, little KL went into berserk mode and I had to take him outside and walk around with him. He was delirious, tired and hyper. Crazy little thing.

OK, let’s game! Then we will winding down for bed time.

Cool, not a car you see parked on the curb everyday. After we started putting the kids to bed, I went out to buy a pizza for lunch tomorrow. We need to checkout at 11am tomorrow and head straight to the airport, so unless I get the kids fed before we leave hotel, they’ll have a meltdown somewhere between the hotel and the gate. Thinking ahead baby.

To be continued at Home, Sweet Home.
